IZ是夏威夷音樂里赫赫有名的歌唱家，擅長演唱和彈奏夏威夷四弦琴，全名Israel Kamakawiwo'ole。由于名字實在太長，所以歌迷們都昵稱他為IZ。他別具匠心地把Somewhere Over The Rainbow和What A Wonderful World這兩支曲子串在一起用當?shù)貥菲餮堇[。在純美的音樂后面，正是他深深而脈脈涌動的溫情。
IZ開始推出他自己的個人專輯是89年，KAANOI是他第一張個人專輯，此后93年的FACING FUTURE的成功讓世界開始注意IZ，而95年的E ALA E和96年的N DIS LIFE則令I(lǐng)Z的名聲傳遍世界。97年的時候，BILLBOARD雜志的資深樂評人Doug Reece驚嘆道：“在97年全年52個星期的世界音樂榜上，只有7個星期沒有出現(xiàn)Israel Kamakawo'ole的名字！”
然而，非常遺憾的是，輝煌的97年并沒能讓世界留住IZ。他的肥胖終于讓他在97年6月離開了人世，年僅38歲的他去世時體重超過750磅。
