1. ask sth about sb/sth 表示“問(wèn)起關(guān)于某人或者某事的情況”，比如說(shuō)，He didn't ask anything about his son. 他沒(méi)有問(wèn)起關(guān)于他兒子的任何事情。
2. make one's rounds 原意是“巡視”，在歌詞中的意義跟hang around差不多，表示“停留，逗留”。女孩聽(tīng)見(jiàn)別人提起從前的男友，為了不讓別人發(fā)現(xiàn)她的憂傷，只能拼命的忍住淚水，try to make tears disappear。
3. 這里over表示“結(jié)束，完結(jié)”，跟ended表示的意義一樣。比如說(shuō)，Their relationship is over. 他們的關(guān)系已經(jīng)完了。還有 “It's all over with him.” the doctor said. 醫(yī)生說(shuō)：“ 他不行了?！蹦敲碽e over sb就表示“和某人已經(jīng)結(jié)束，已經(jīng)忘了某人”。
4. blue 作為形容詞大家知道可以表示“心情憂郁的，憂傷的”。在歌詞中，the blues表示“極度憂傷或者沮喪的情緒”，在口語(yǔ)中很常用，我們可以說(shuō)，I had an attack of the blues. Or I had the blues. 我覺(jué)得傷心極了。
5. paint the town red是一個(gè)俚語(yǔ)，表示“尋歡作樂(lè)，狂歡”，歌詞中省略了red。可不是“整個(gè)鎮(zhèn)子都刷成紅色”的意思。
6. sly 的意思是“狡猾的，狡詐的”，比如說(shuō)，You sly old devil!你這個(gè)老奸巨猾的家伙！sly還可以表示“會(huì)意的，會(huì)心的”，比如說(shuō)，She cast a sly glance at her poker partner. 她向玩牌的搭檔使了個(gè)會(huì)意的眼色。找到離開(kāi)的理由很容易，但是離開(kāi)卻很難，需要很大的勇氣和不斷的掙扎。
7. Time heals all wounds. 是一個(gè)習(xí)語(yǔ)，意思就是“時(shí)間可以治愈一切傷痛。時(shí)間是良藥”。歌者當(dāng)然明白這個(gè)道理，但是放手之后，感覺(jué)像是經(jīng)歷了永遠(yuǎn)。
8. shatter 表示“使某物突然破碎，粉碎”，比如說(shuō)，The cup shattered as it hit the floor. 杯子掉在地板上摔了個(gè)粉碎。在口語(yǔ)中shatter還表示“讓某人的希望破碎”，比如說(shuō)，The accident shattered all my hopes. 那次事故讓我的希望全部破滅。
9. misery 表示“肉體或者精神上的痛苦，難受”，比如說(shuō)，He's living in misery and want. 他在貧困中生活。Nobody wants to lead a life of misery. 沒(méi)有人想過(guò)痛苦的生活。
